A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 beginning at 11:00 AM at First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI 49002; with Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Barbara H. Maurer, age 96, died on July 15, 2017 at Oakview Terrace of Park Village Pines in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born to Hubert and Hazel (Jones) Harrison in Marshall, MI on January 1, 1921. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1938 and Western Michigan College in 1942. She was an educator in both South Haven and Marshall School systems. She also was a fifty year member of the First Presbyterian Church and the library board in Marshall. She married Max L. Maurer in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1999. She survived by one child, Michael L. (Marilyn) Maurer of Kalamazoo. Two grandchildren; Lea H. (Charity Olson) Maurer of Saline, MI, and Andrew L. (Katie) Maurer of Arlington Heights, IL. Two great-grandchildren; Grace C. Maurer and Jack A. Maurer of Saline.
In recognition of their compassionate and loving care over the last six years memorial contributions may be made to Park Village Pines, 2920 Crystal Lane, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
