Age 65, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Gene was born in Kalamazoo on January 2, 1953, the son of Carl, Jr. and Idella (Alberts) Britton. He was a 1972 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and was employed for 33 years at Kalamazoo Public Schools. Gene had a great sense of humor and found joy in the simple things of life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved Christmas and was an artist at heart. Most importantly, Gene loved his family and always kept them at the center of his world. On March 29, 1975, Gene was united in marriage to the former Brenda A. Porter, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Jason (Emily) and Eric (Andrea) Britton; grandsons, Ian and Nolan and Sebastian Britton; mother, Idella Britton; siblings, Sandra (Rick) Davis, Joe Britton and Janice Herrington; mother in-law, Marian Porter; several nieces and nephews and beloved cat, Molly. He was preceded in death by his father; father in-law, Earl Porter and brother in-law, Gordon Herrington.
