A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Age 75, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Fred was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 13, 1942, the son of the late Ernest L. and Verna M. (Shafer) Luedecking. He was a life-long resident of the Kalamazoo area and was employed for General Motors for 35 years as a Tool & Die maker. While employed at GM he made a lot of life-long friends. Fred had a passion for cars, especially street rods and built several of his own. Also, while working at GM he met his future wife, Sherry. They were married on October 23, 2005. Fred was also an avid fan of NASCAR, traveling to Michigan International Speedway several times with his son, Steve and grandson, Steven. He was a talented wood-worker, stained glass craftsman and enjoyed making things for his kids and grandkids. Fred also enjoyed spending time with his siblings, in-laws and other family members playing cards, marbles and dominos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria (McKinstry) Luedecking and son, Steven Luedecking. Fred is survived by his wife, Sherry A. (Edick) Luedecking; children, Robert (Gaylene) Luedecking, Laura “Lori” Voss, Lana (Joe) Trowbridge, Kim Lowery and Sherry (Jerry) Fulbright; grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, Audrie, Kyle, Steven, Amber, Dustin (Viridiana), Halie, Spencer, Riley, Jamie, Ty, Taryn, Danielle, Samantha, Jacob, Taylor, Walter, Marcus and Lily and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Yvonne) Luedecking, Mary (Laird) Cunningham and Susen (the late Gerald) Cunningham; several nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Hank.
