A committal service with full military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM (those planning to attend should meet at the funeral assembly area of the cemetery by 10:45 AM). A celebration of Jim’s life will follow the committal service at Portage-Schoolcraft Eagles, 11611 Shaver Rd., Schoolcraft, MI 49087.

Age 83, passed away at home on Friday, June 2, 2017 with his family at his side. Jim was born in Kalamazoo on August 2, 1933, the son of the late Elmer “Jim” W. and Sophia (Bojarski) Bock. He was a 1951 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1953 and served our country honorably during the Korean War. On April 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Mary K. Meeth, who survives. Jim is also survived by his children, Jacquelyn (Mike) Thornton and Joel (Deborah) Bock; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Bette Bridenbaugh, Shirley Zinkus, Evelyn Lee and Jackie Bock. He was a proud member of the Bricklayers Local 17 for 30 years and finished his last 13 years of employment working for the Upjohn Company.
