Michele Ann (Elwell) Lantis passed away August 8, 2017, with her family close by, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Michele was born to Marvin and Priscilla Elwell on November 10th, 1960 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Michele was raised in Climax, Michigan and graduated from Climax-Scotts High school in 1978. Afterwards, she attended Ferris State University for 2 years, receiving a degree in court stenography. Michele began her career as a court report in the Circuit Court of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She worked there for almost 4 years before moving back to the Kalamazoo area and beginning work as a freelance reporter. She worked many years for Gerger-Moretti Reporting, now the Moretti Group. She started working for the Circuit Court in Manistee and Benzie Counties in 2011 and continued working there as a court reporter until her passing. Michele married Bret D. Lantis on April 12th, 1990. They lived and raised a family in the Climax area. Michele was preceded in death by both of her parents, Marvin and Priscilla Elwell. She is survived by her husband Bret, a daughter Erin (Rene) Herman, a son Jeremy (Lydia) Lantis, a sister Christine(Tom) Lyster, and three brothers, Lester (Audrey) Elwell, Michael (Marijo) Elwell, and Jonathan (Joellen) Elwell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
