Nettie, age 93, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Nettie was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on April 4, 1924; the daughter of the late Leonard C. and Leola W. (Robles) Lester. In 1943, Nettie married Benjamin DeBoer and worked for Ruud Manufacturing during WWII. After having her children, she became a full-time homemaker and devoted her life to her family. Nettie enjoyed decorating and loved flowers and gardening. She would later work as a crossing guard at Westwood Elementary and eventually went on to serve as Personnel Manager for Kmart, retiring in 1986. Nettie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale P. Hughes; sister, Mary Camp and brothers, Robert, Charles and Richard Lester. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son and caregiver, Thomas DeBoer; daughters, Susan (Jerry) Houchins and Peggy (Richard) Colby; grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Stellberg, Holly DeBoer, Lisa Rathburn, Erich (Kim) Kelley, Shannon (Mike) Barnhill and Shane Kelley; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
