Dan & Kylee Adams, Owner/Manager
A Licensed Funeral Director since 2007, Dan is a graduate of Western Michigan University, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He and his brother, Gabe began working at Joldersma and Klein in 2007 and were excited about purchasing the business in 2009. Dan lives above the funeral home with his wife Kylee, and their three children Ella, Owen and David; who attend Kalamazoo Christian Schools. Dan serves as the manager for J&K where his wife, Kylee serves as an administrative assistant. They believe that Joldersma and Klein is a funeral home families come to when they want to be treated like family and that providing great personal service at a fair price is the foundation of creating a funeral home that is family owned, operated, and oriented. When not serving families, they enjoy spending time with their children, being outdoors, attending sporting and theater events. Dan and his wife are members of First United Methodist Church on Park St.
Gabe & Holly Adams, Owner
A Licensed Funeral Director since 1997, Gabe is a graduate of Ferris State University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He and his brother, Dan began working at Joldersma & Klein in 2007 and were excited about purchasing the business in 2009. Gabe is the manager of Hohner Funeral Home in Three Rivers. Holly serves as a full time administrative assistant at the Hohner location. They live in Three Rivers, along with their two children, Isaac and Anabele. Gabe is a member of the Lions Club of Three Rivers, Rotary International, and they attend First United Methodist Church of Three Rivers. When not serving families, they enjoy spending time with their children, golfing, and traveling. They are always available and honored to serve.
Bradley Bell, LFD, Manager of Funeral Service Operations
A Licensed Funeral Director since 2010, Brad has served families in many capacities at the funeral home since high school. He is a graduate of Parchment High School, Kalamazoo Valley Community College and American Academy McAllister Institute for Funeral Service. Brad is a life-long Kalamazoo resident and resides near Parchment with his daughter, Elizabeth who attends STEM Academy. He is a dedicated member of our staff and believes in serving families as he would want his served. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo. Brad has served on several boards including as a trustee on the board of directors for both Michigan HOSA (Health Occupation Students of American) and National Hosa, Inc. Brad enjoys boating on Upper Crooked Lake-Delton, golfing, snowmobile trips to the Upper Peninsula and spending time with his family.
Laurie A. Vander Berg, Director of Responsible Planning
Laurie has served families in the Kalamazoo and surrounding areas for over a decade and joined the Joldersma & Klein Family at the beginning of 2017. Laurie’s mantra is “Helping others is the true key to happiness”. She finds genuine joy meeting with people and hearing their stories. As part of the Joldersma & Klein family, Laurie also teaches various funeral-related, educational workshops. Laurie graduated from Gull Lake High School and Western Michigan University. She and her husband, John have been married since 1989. Their son, James is an Eagle Scout, musician, and proudly attends WMU. Prior to discovering her passion for the funeral business, she worked as a legal assistant in Kalamazoo and Portage for several years. When Laurie was a younger lady, she was an administrative assistant to The Most Reverend Paul Donovan, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo (much to her parents’ delight), followed by 16 years as the Corporate Manager for an engineering consulting firm. She and her family enjoy spending their time up north, boating, attempting to fish, amateur photography and spending time with their friends.
Thomas M. Folkert, Planning and Services Director
Tom is proud to be continuing his family's tradition in funeral service as part of the Joldersma & Klein staff. He has been in funeral service for over 30 years, having served in almost all aspects of the business. He has received national recognition for his work in the area of advance planning. He attended Hope College and enjoys music and spending time with friends. Tom is committed to excellence in funeral service and caring for grieving families in the best way possible
Mary Jackson, Administrative Assistant
Mary has been an administrative assistant at Joldersma & Klein since 2005. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and Calvin College. She and her husband are the proud parents of two sets of twins. Mary is a member of Community Presbyterian Church where she is active in several ministries. She also works as an election inspector in Texas Township and has been an instructor with Crossroads Bible Institute since living in Kalamazoo. When not working, she enjoys being with her family, reading and tennis.
Richard & Cathy (Jager) Reynolds, Funeral Service Associates
Richard and Cathy have been a part of Joldersma & Klein since 2013. They attend Voyage Church, and are very active in the greater Kalamazoo community. Cathy is a former employee of Parchment School District, and Richard formerly owned and operated West Colony Printing. When not working, they enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling to their cabin up north, playing golf and church activities.
Tim Lisk, Funeral Service Associate
Tim is a Funeral Service Associate who has been a member of the Joldersma & Klein Family since 2008. Tim is a graduate of Comstock High School, and served as an associate at Truesdale Funeral Home. He then left to pursue a career in law enforcement. He progressed through the chain of command and would eventually serve as a Captain and head of the county jail in the Sheriff’s Department. He and his wife, Patty have been life time residents of Kalamazoo. They are members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, volunteering, traveling up north, and going out to eat. Tim is honored to be serving families and helping in any way that he can.
John and Carol Holms, Funeral Service Associates
John and Carol have been a part of Joldersma and Klein since 2015, and serve as Funeral Service Associates. Both were teachers in Comstock Public Schools, John taught in the high school and Carol at the middle School. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo where they serve as directors for the Bronson Park Food Pantry which is housed in the church. When not working, John enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing and attending events at Michigan State University. Carol enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, volunteering and reading. They are the parents of two grown sons: Jim and Andrew and daughter-in-law Megan.
Wayne R. Garnaat, Funeral Service Associate
Wayne has been a Funeral Service Associate at J&K since 2009. He is a 1966 graduate of Portage Central High School and is a retiree of the United States Postal Service where he was employed for 36 years. Wayne is married to Sharon and together they have three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They are active members of Spring Valley Wesleyan Church. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and puzzles.
Paul Parks, Funeral Service Associate, Facilities Manager
Paul has been part of J&K since 2014. He is a long-time resident of Kalamazoo and has owned and operated the janitorial company, P&L Associates, alongside his wife, Linda, for the past 22 years. He and Linda have been married for 51 years and have two children and four grandchildren. They are members of First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo. Paul enjoys serving families at the funeral home and keeping up on all the necessary maintenance of our facility. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling to Florida and to Iowa to visit his family.
