Pathfinder Church is located at 8740 South Westnedge Avenue, Portage, Michigan 49002. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or Pathfinder Church, c/o the funeral home.

Age 88, passed away at home on Sunday evening, March 8th, 2020. He was born on April 2, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Chester Hoyt Ferguson, Sr. and Anna Ruth Ferguson. Following graduation from high school, Chet honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1949 to 1954 and was a crew member of the USS Mount Katmai. On April, 26, 1954, Chet married Sue Ann Hartley and they most recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Chet began his 40 year career as a Tool and Die Maker with Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio and in 1966, he and Sue moved their family to the Kalamazoo area when he took a job with General Motor’s Fischer Body plant in Kalamazoo. He and Sue enjoyed many years of camping with their friends and he was an avid bowler and belonged to various leagues at Sunset Lanes over the years. Chet was extremely active in his church choir at Pathfinder Church and was also a founding member of his gospel group. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Sunderman; He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Sue, their four daughters, Cheri (Jim) Valentine of Lansing, Michigan; Debe (Paul) Hahn of College Grove, Tennessee; Gina Babcock of Kalamazoo; and Susan Eifler of Portage, Michigan. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Travis (Sara) Valentine; Dannielle (Wesley) Albert; Nathan Hahn; Clarke (Erin) Babcock; Taylor (Connor) Clancy and Tyler Eifler, along with his two great grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Albert.
