In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Shriners Hospital or Tunnels to Towers, c/o the funeral home.

Age 77, passed away at Centrica Rose Arbor Place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Charleston, WV, the son of the late William and Betty (Frincke) Weimer. David spent his youth in St. Albans, WV, where he graduated high school and then attended college for three years at the University of Louisville before being drafted into the military. He served our country with honor as a Captain in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade until being discharged. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Cheryl “Sherry” (Aikins) Weimer. Together they made their home in Houston, TX, where David had moved for work. In 1988, he was transferred to Kalamazoo, MI. David was kind, loving and outgoing. He enjoyed making friends and having fun. He stayed active through life enjoying tennis and pickleball; was a pilot and was a member of the Kal-Aero Flying Club where he served as treasurer and secretary. He was an accomplished woodworker. Above all David loved his family and he leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. He leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived and will be missed. He is survived by his wife Sherry; two daughter, Kelly (James) Touchtone and Shannon (Timothy) Bailey; four grandchildren, Michael and Leah Touchtone, Billy and Austin Bailey; a sister, Marilyn (Edward) Randolph; niece, Traci Gilbert and nephew, Marc Gilbert; many extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by his stepmother, Charlotte Weimer.
