Age 76, passed away early Saturday morning, February 19, 2022. Ed was bornin Kalamazoo on July 24, 1944, the son of John Wilson and Matilda Johanna (Brandt) Gilbert Sr. Ed was the sixth of seven children. He was a 1963 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Ed proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his sister, Beverly J. Marker of Portage; brothers, Paul M. (Viktorija) Gilbert of Portage, and Donald Gilbert of Dover, TN; brother-in-law, Gerald Callen of Kalamazoo; several nices and nephews and many friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dena Wheeler and Geneva A. Callen; and a brother, John W. Gilbert Jr.  No services are being held. Ed will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators or the charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home.
