A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, 1150 W. Centre St. Portage. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. John will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moman Adult Foster Care Home, Kalamazoo, in c/o of funeral home.

Age 68, passed away on Saturday morning, February 5, 2022. John was born in Kalamazoo, on September 10, 1953, the son of John and Bernice Adeline (Tourville) Wolinski. John was an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and of the Super Bowl. He was also a basketball fan and loved the Final Four. He had participated in the Special Olympics where he was a runner. He developed a love for running and ran in the Borgess 5K Run for Fitness and the Susan Koman Run several times. John liked movies. He enjoyed traveling especially to the Upper Peninsula, where he could see the “big boats” go through the Sault Locks. He looked forward to going out to eat. He loved Batman, and Gunsmoke was his favorite TV show. He was a joyful and loving person who was gentle and who will be missed by those in his group home and by his loving family who include his sisters, Karen A. Treberg and Paulette (Muhammad) Rafi; cousin, Linda Garmire Rehmeyer; and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; and is his Aunt Syl and Uncle Joe Garmire.
