Sibella B. Richardson (Knight) was born in Kalamazoo on December 2, 1935, the daughter of Leo and Gertrude (Leetz) Polmanteer. Sibella passed away peacefully at the Laurels of Galesburg on February 19, 2025. Sibella was a waitress and manager in many restaurants in the Kalamazoo area. She managed the ½ Way House Truck Stop Restaurant for many years and may be remembered for her infectious smile and fiery red hair. Twenty years ago, Sibella met her loving significant other, Merl Harney. They were active members in the Kalamazoo Antique Restorers Club, often participating in Wednesday cruise nights at the Gilmore Car Museum, cruising in one of their classic automobiles. On their many car excursions, they definitely took “the road less traveled” to another level. Being spontaneous was their game in all of their adventures. In 2011, the car club awarded her Outstanding Club Member for volunteering her skills to help the club. Sibella leaves behind many memories including spending time with her blended family of grandchildren, attending hockey, bowling and soccer games, dance and music recitals, and going to the beach in St. Joseph. Sibella is survived by her significant other, Merl Harney and family; her children, Deb Lane, Dennis (Merry) Kuhn, Kim Richardson; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece; a great niece; and many friends.
