A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.

Kalamazoo
Age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Dena was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on June 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Clyde G. and Dora L. (Pierce) Ellis. She is survived by her children, Carol (Neil) Segerdahl and Greg Stewart; granddaughters, Sarah (David) Espinosa, Brooke (David) Hines and Mary Segerdahl; great-grandchildren, Steven (Deanne), Andrew, Kathryn and Benjamin Thurston, Collin, Abigail, Samuel and Jillian Hines and Isabelle and Maya Segerdahl; sister in-law, Sandra Ellis; special family friend, Jan Stewart and many nieces and nephews. Dena was preceded in death by her son, James Stewart; brothers, Gale (Blanche), John (Elizabeth) and Vernon Ellis and sisters, Ethel Ellis, Faye (Dix) VanDaff and Barbara (Carl) Zoutman. She retired from the Upjohn Company after 24 years of employment and was a long-time member of Lake Center Bible Church. What a wonderful legacy she has left behind in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I’m so sorry for the family’s loss.
Carol and my dear friends family. I’m sadden today just finding that, My friend Dena who I met at The UpJohn Co. Passed three days after my birthday. We would call each other on our birthdays. I will miss calling her on June 3rd. Last time we talked, she told me she didn’t remember things. She loved her children and grandchildren. Gregory she told me that that you did her grocery shopping.
