MEISTERHEIM, Joseph P.

Age 58, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Joe was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 14, 1965, the son of James F. and Colleen M. (McLaughlin) Meisterheim. He was a graduate of Portage Northern High School, class of 1984. Joe was a life-long proud construction worker and a member of several local labor unions. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hiking, fishing and camping. Joe also loved fires and was known as “the king of bonfires” He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many. Joe is survived by his mother, Colleen (Elmer) Young, step-mother, Carol Meisterheim; sisters, Debbie Wood and Jennifer (Dan) Lundquist; brothers, Russell Meisterheim and Larry (Kristi) Decker; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Allen) Stahl, Jamie (Cameron) Brockway, Douglas Wood, Erek Decker, Ryan Decker, Katelynn (Michael) Giordano, Karlee Bradley and Daniel Lundquist; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his father, James Meisterheim in 2018 and his beloved dog, Abby. A memorial visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. When ever I see someone carrying a bucket of beer I think of you my friend. Your toils and troubles are behind you and I hope your spirit is enjoying that great hunting land in the sky.
You have always been family to us. You will forever be remembered for your fun loving spirit and sense of humor. You would do anything for anyone. Build all the bonfires you want and share them with your Dad, Abby, and my Lisa. You will be missed forever. God speed gentle Joe.
Joe was one of a kind. Huge heart and always generous. Willing to help whenever someone needed it. We had good times during the hunting seasons cooking up some wild game and retrieving harvested deer. I shot my biggest buck at his dad Jim & Carols place. We made some great memories in the outdoors. You will be sorely missed my friend.

RIP Joey! My siblings and I lived with you and your family back in 1977. Colleen and Elmer were our foster parents at the time. I have good memories. I took over your paper route, I’m not sure why.
