June Shirley Dykstra went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 7, 2020 at the age of 89.  June was born to the late James Sr. and Tena Clausing on June 14, 1931 in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Il. Where she studied medical transcription. Surviving are June’s loving husband of 66 years, Charles Dykstra Sr., her three sons, Daryl (Sue) Dykstra, Chuck (Marcia) Dykstra Jr., and Daniel (Kim) Dykstra; eight grandchildren, Tim (Brittany) Dykstra, Steve (Kelsey) Dykstra, Mary (Dave) Adams, John (Heidi) Dykstra, James Dykstra, Taylor, Devin, Blake Dykstra; four great grandchildren. June was an example of Christian love and concern for others throughout her life.  In addition to being a loving wife and fine mother, she reflected her love of Jesus through volunteer service at the Kalamazoo Deacon’s Conference, ministries of the Third Christian Reformed Church, including the Friendship Program, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, World Renew (CRWRC) and Crossroads Prison Ministries. Throughout her life, June showed her Christian devotion in her love for others. She demonstrated this love to everyone from children to incarcerated adults.  Her loving spirit was evident to everyone she encountered.  Her warm smile was contagious.  She had a quick wit and loved to laugh.  Her bright, cheerful eyes were windows into a soul which was close to her Lord.  Her heart overflowed in love for God, pouring out to those whose lives she touched. She was also a fantastic cook, enjoyed gardening and being outdoors in God’s creation. She lives on in our hearts as a faithful reminder of all of God’s great blessings!
