Age 73, passed away on January 4, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was kind, generous and loving. She worked hard as a secretary for the Kalamazoo Public School system. When not working she enjoyed baking, gardening, going shopping and playing cards. She believed in the Lord and attended the Methodist church. More than anything, Karen enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind many wonderful memories of a life well lived and she will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by four children, Brian Mayne, Amy Gruver, Rebecca Mayne and Sarah Guritz; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; three siblings, Larry, Ron and Bill Johnson; a sister-in-law, Connie Johnson; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Grandma, I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to embrace your warmth in my life. You have a huge heart full of love and understanding. You never judge or criticize anyone. So many lessons you’ve taught your family.. From having strength and courage, to being humble and generous. You left behind a wonderful reputation and the world feels empty without you. I hope you are in peace and comfort while being reunited with late relatives and friends. Thank you for being a big part of our lives and giving us the guidance we needed. We will always love you. 💕
My thoughts and prayers to all the family. I am sorry for your loss.
Sending condolences and prayers to all Karen’s family.
