Obituary
Marlene Sue Burson died on December 10, 2020, at Bronson Hospital. She was born on September 6, 1952, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Milton and Betty Mae (Gardeneer) Burson. She remained a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo where she made many friends. Marlene was a kind woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Her easy-going personality made her a joy to know and she was fun to be around. She worked as a Cosmetologist and when not working was fond of traveling. Marlene loved her family and though she never had children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own kids. Marlene’s warm smile and laugh will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by two siblings, Peggy (Tom) Baldwin and Terri Burgess; a special friend, Orley Bastian; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in passing by four siblings, Bob Burson, Mike Hess, Louise Burson and K.C. Burson.
Marlene was a friend of mine on Facebook. I don’t really recall how we became Facebook friends but I enjoyed reading her posts almost daily. I had no knowledge of her even being sick and I am so sorry to hear that she passed away. I know that she’s in a better place now that she has no more pain or sickness. May she rest in peace.
I have not seen Marlene for many years. I will always remember her kindness to me, when as a new student in Schoolcraft High School, she came up to me the minute I walked in the door, introduced herself and we became friends from that moment on. Such a sweet person.
I will forever miss my “astrological twin”, if you believe in that sort of thing, as Mar would always say. So many funny memories, I could write a book! I still cannot believe Mar is gone, my world will never be the same. I will miss you forever, my dear friend. Rest In Peace, you deserve it!
