A funeral service in witness to Pauline’s life and faith will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, with her pastor, The Rev. Greg Van Heukelom officiating. Friends may call on the family on Monday evening, October 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Animal Rescue Project, or the charity of one’s choice, in c/o the funeral home.
Obituary
Age 89, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023. Pauline was born in Kalamazoo on June 16, 1934, the daughter of John and Thelma (Surdick) Pelikan. She was married to Lester Sims and later, Robert Bullis who both preceded her in death. Pauline loved all animals. She enjoyed life and was a positive happy person. Pauline redefined being a social butterfly. She was musical and loved to tap her foot to the beat. Pauline was known and loved for her feistiness. She was proud of her Polish heritage. Family meant everything to her. Pauline is survived by her daughter, Susan (William) Grother; siblings, Anthony Pelikan, Richard Pelikan, Robert Pelikan, Janet Cady, Mary Ellen Jones, Carol (Robert) Carr; several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Besides her husbands, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Violet DeYoung, Frances Bolle; brothers, John Pelikan Jr., James Pelikan; and many of her beloved pets.

May the family have peace in the arms of God during this time of sorrow. Pauline was a wonderful person inside and out. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. I will miss our movie outings and the many laughs and memories we shared. Rest in peace dear friend.
