Randy Mayfield

July 13, 1954 – July 1, 2021

In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, on Thursday, July 29, 2021, begining at 10:30 AM (guests are asked to arrive at the assembly area at 10:15 AM). Special thanks to Lynn, Carol and Roger who have been amazing during this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan, c/o of the funeral home.

Obituary

Age 66, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2021. He passed at home surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. Randy was a kind and loving man who had a passion for life. He was born in Chicago, IL, on July 13, 1954, the son of the late Bennie and Bertha (Alexander) Mayfield. After graduating high school, he enlisted and served our country in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he would eventually make Kalamazoo, MI his home. He was a hard worker who was employed as a custodian for the Kalamazoo Public School System for more than thirty years. When not working Randy enjoyed visiting casinos, traveling with his special friends Carol and Roger Little and having cookouts with family and friends. More than anything, Randy loved his family and leaves them with special memories. He was never happier then when he was surrounded by his grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. His smile, laughter and warmheartedness will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his only son, Randy Mayfield Curry; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings, Bennie Jr. Mayfield, Donald Mayfield, Wayne (Teresa) Mayfield, Debbie Mayfield, Bryant Mayfield, Brenda Darling, Ronnie Mayfield, Scott Mayfield, Arthur Mayfield, Michael Mayfield, Julius (Michelle) Mayfield; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a spouse, Elise Dunlap; three siblings, Davy Mayfield, Anthony Darling and Kevin Mayfield; sister-in-law, Cynthia Mayfield; brother-in-law, Anthony Brown.

I have no clue how I’m going to make it through this life without you. Losing you is a huge loss to our family. I’m going to miss your laugh so much. I’m going to miss your two step…i’m glad I got to see it one more time before you left us. I HATE that you’re gone, but I love that you’re at peace. I’ll make sure I’ll take good care of your home. I’ll turn the garage light off, wash and put away the dishes and make sure folks using That side door. And so you can rest peacefully imma make sure imma stay out your business.
