Sylas Orion Keys, age 13, passed away on September 20th, 2021 as the result of a car accident. Sylas was born on May 28, 2008, to Robert Keys II and Jessica Faher. He was raised by his adoptive mother Ashley Ampersee, in St Joseph, and co-parented by his father, Robert. Sylas was a smart and creative kid who always had a book or sketch book near by. He was a talented artist and loved drawing war scenes as well as drawing comics to make his brother laugh. Sylas liked to build things, whether it was out of legos, cardboard, or just plain paper. It didn’t matter, he just liked to build. He was determined he was going to invent something that people needed one day. He loved learning about fast and fancy cars, old and new, and hoped to have one when he grew up. US history was another one of his passions. He read every book of war stories he could get his hands on. Sylas could tell you the dates, weapons, and strategies used in US battles. He collected war memorabilia and could often be found making up his own backyard battles, dressed head to toe in camouflage. Sylas also kept quite active with things like baseball, golf, jumping his bike, skateboarding and fishing and went on countless hiking and camping adventures with his mom and brother. He attended First Church of God and loved the Lord. He made so many people smile and laugh with his jokes and stories. He was loved by so many and will be missed deeply by his family and friends, especially by his little brother Elliot who looked up to him in everything. |
