Age 88, passed away late Friday night, August 12, 2022. Addie-Anne was born in Kalamazoo and was a lifelong resident. She was married to Dan for over 63 years, and her family was the center of her life. During her brief hospital stay before passing away, she was surrounded by her devoted husband Dan, her three children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and friends-which is exactly the way she would have wanted it. She was truly the matriarch of her family. She loved all of them immensely and unconditionally, and they have flourished because of it. She was the driving force behind countless celebrations and events, and her love and caring made the humblest celebrations special. Even her working life centered around family, as she managed Dan’s dental practice and was his receptionist for many years. The two of them were truly a love match. They were equal partners in all things well before that was common, and each stepped up to do what was needed when the other one faltered. In the last few years, Addie-Anne helped Dan recover from both a broken femur and bypass surgery with flying colors. Dan, in turn, helped her navigate the world as it became increasingly confusing for her in the last few years. This allowed her to stay in her familiar surroundings and live with a level of independence and a dignity that would have been impossible without his help. Addie-Anne’s singular quality was kindness. She brightened up every room she was in, and everyone’s day was better after seeing her. Her generosity of spirit set an example for those around her. She saved numerous stray cats, contributed generously to many worthy causes, and generally made the world a better place in every way it’s possible to do so. She will be greatly missed. |
