Susan went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2023. She was born on June 11, 1957, the youngest of four girls to the late Frank A. and Agnes K. (Wiersma) Zimmerman. She cherished her three sisters, and they remained very close over the years. They lovingly referred to their little sister as “Susie.”

Sue is survived by her sisters, Fran (Al) Brus, Lin (Craig) Yaple and Barb Hamming; niece and nephews, Tricia (Nick) Perreault, Kyle (Heather) VanderBeek, Rich Hamming II and Ryan Yaple; and six great nieces and nephews.

Sue spent much of her youth on Long Lake Cloverdale, where she swam and learned to water ski. She also enjoyed playing softball and bowling. She started working at First Community Federal Credit Union shortly after graduation. Sue later joined Consumers Credit Union, where she worked for nearly 26 years. She finished her career in the Collections Department and retired in 2021.

“Aunt Susie” was an amazing aunt and great-aunt. She enjoyed attending her niece and nephews’ sporting events and important activities. Her family and friends played a significant role in her life. Sue was a dog lover and had two “fur-babies” who gave her extraordinary joy and companionship.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Kalamazoo or a charity of one’s choice.
