In 1957, she graduated from Bay City Central High School and in 1961 graduated from U of M Flint, Hurley Medical Center, School of Nursing. She went to work as a Registered Nurse at Saginaw Community Hospital and within a few years became the head nurse and administrator of the Geriatrics Unit. In 2016, she moved to Climax, MI, to be closer to her daughter. Bonnie was a giving woman who was a joy to know. She was an exceptional quilter, and she shared her gift by making quilts for soldiers overseas for more than twenty years. She loved being outdoors and was a gifted gardener whose flowers and landscape were always immaculate. She loved taking walks outside and was especially fond of her pet cats. When able, Bonnie liked to travel with her husband and attended the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan, where she became an involved member. On March 2023, she was admitted into Medilodge of Portage, Michigan due to her advanced dementia. Tina was her main nurse that took incredibly good care of Bonnie, especially in her final days.
