Edward Achtyes Jr, age 81 passed away at home on November 10, 2024, due to an aneurysm. Born in Grand Rapids MI, Ed was the only child of Janet Bleyerveld and Edward Achtyes, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara “Bobbi” Muncey, as well as seven of 11 first cousins and dozens of 2nd cousins. Ed and Bobbi married in 1991. Ed was an avid sports fan and Trekie. He played basketball for South High – they won all 15 games in 1960. He instructed tennis, biked and hiked. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College, then Western Michigan University where he earned two master’s degrees, one in Education, the second in Educational Leadership and Development. He had a variety of jobs including at a radio station, MESC matching seniors with jobs and served as an instructor at Davenport. Ed was passionate about his beliefs and helping people. | |
