Sharon L. Simmons

Sharon L. (DeGraaf) Simmons 75 of Plainwell passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia, at the Laurels of Sandy Creek Wayland, MI on September 30, 2025. Sharon was born June 21, 1950 in Paw Paw, MI to Gerrit and Joyce (Pursley) DeGraaf. She was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1968, and she loved doing crossword puzzles and word search, she also loved music especially 50’s and 60’s and gospel music. Sharon was a devout Christian and very deep in her faith. She was a faithful member of Friendship Wesleyan Church in Plainwell, MI where she was very involved with the church. Sharon never met a stranger; she could talk to anyone. She was very outgoing and likeable. She will leave a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, John Simmons and her parents, Gerrit and Joyce DeGraaf. Sharon is survived by her brother, Greg DeGraaf and her sisters, Patricia (James) Ledbetter, Gale Powell and Laura Spars and many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland, MI for the wonderful loving care they gave her and also, the hospice nurses.
