Miles J. Goretzka

Miles J. Goretzka, age 77, of Portage, MI, passed away at his home on October 17, 2025. Miles was born in Kalamazoo on August 24, 1948, the son of the late Carl and Eunice (Miles) Goretzka. Miles grew up in Portage and graduated from Portage Northern High School. After graduating school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed as a missile technician in Germany. After being honorably discharged he returned to make Portage his home. He worked hard to provide for his family. Miles was quiet in nature and enjoyed spending time at his home with a book in hand. He also enjoyed collecting coins, working in the yard. Miles was handy and mechanically inclined. Above all, he took great pride and joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow and he leaves behind many wonderful memories to be cherished. Miles gentle smile, laughter and love will be missed by those who knew him. He is survived by three children, Miles C. (Shae) Goretzka, Matthew J. (Betsy) Goretzka and Marcy (Jake) McCauley; four grandchildren, Drew and Alyssa Goretzka, Sophia and Lucy McKinnon; siblings, Carol Newburry and Carla Bland; extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Frank Goretzka.
