Age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2025, at Bronson Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Kalamazoo on February 6, 1951, the son of the late Gerald and Dorothy (Gerlofs) Hoeksema. Larry was a kind, loving and Christian man who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. His strong faith in the Lord was only matched by his strong work ethic. Raised in the greenhouse industry, Larry had a love for growing flowers. When his father died at an early age, he helped fill a role of keeping the family business running. Throughout his career he made countless friends and associates. When not working he enjoyed golfing, hunting and camping. He made wonderful memories at the family cottage on Silver Lake where all were welcome to visit. Larry was an involved member at First Reformed Church where he served as an elder, volunteered, drove bus and filled any role that was needed. Above all, Larry loved watching his children and grandchildren grow. He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather who instilled a strong foundation in his family. Larry’s chirpy sense of humor, smile and handshake will be missed by those who love him. On September 20, 1974, he married the love of his life Kathy (Linders) Hoeksema who survives. They enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage. Larry is also survived by three children, Bryan (Melissa) Hoeksema, Mike (Jill) Hoeksema, Sara (Rich) DeVries; grandchildren, Keegan, Kenzie and Gavin Hoeksema, Isaac, Hannah and Mary Hoeksema, Brandon, Connor and Regan DeVries; siblings, Randy (Sandy) Hoeksema, David (Julie) Hoeksema; sister-in-law, Sue Hoeksema; extended family and countless friends. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Denny Hoeksema. | |
