Age 72, Maurice “Mo” Scholten passed away at Blueberry Hill Assisted Living in Lawton, MI, on November 12, 2025. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on January 28, 1953, the son of the late James and Mary (Mikula) Scholten. Maurice grew up in Grand Rapids, graduated from Catholic Central High School and attended Grand Rapids Junior College. He would go on to serve our country with honor in the U.S. Air Force. In his youth he had an artistic nature and enjoyed drawing, painting, and photography. He worked for Wyoming MI Police Department, Wolohan Lumber, was a driver for Hope Network and Grand Rapids Transit Authority. When not working, Maurice was a fisherman, motorsports enthusiast and supported the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings through cheers and tears. He enjoyed reading and writing, was drawn to Native American History, liked spending time in nature, and loved all animals especially cats. Above all Maurice loved his family! He was immensely proud of his daughter and grandchildren, and he will be missed by those who loved him. On August 26, 1995, he married Veronica Warren who preceded him in passing in 2008. He was also preceded in passing by a son, Roderick; sister, Monica; brother, Greg; and niece, Amy. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Raquel Leigh (Bileth) Christie and her husband Chip; three grandchildren, Retta (Bileth) Polomcak and her husband Zach, Keaten Christie and Ethan Christie; and extended family and friends. | |
