Gene D. Harvey

Gene Harvey of Kalamazoo passed away peacefully at his home on December 22, 2025. Gene is survived by his wife Sharron and their three children, Chris (Teresa, deceased), Duane (Roberta) and Mark (Marsha). Gene had four grandchildren (Kristen, Erika, Brandon and Jessica) and six great grandchildren. Gene and Sharron met in Oshtemo, Mi and married in June of 1957. Gene grew up in Oshtemo and attended Mattawan schools and while in school he played football, enjoyed his friendship with classmates and worked at the local ice cream shop. It was in high school where Gene learned how to pantomime. He pantomimed at his school’s talent show and continued to entertain hundreds of people over the years. In 1962 Gene and Sharron moved to Cooper township where they resided and raised their children. Gene worked as a bricklayer for most of his life along with working as a small business owner, from his father’s aftermarket service shop. Gene loved the outdoors and would routinely go hunting, fishing and mushroom picking. Gene loved to make people laugh by performing pantomiming for family, friends and Civic clubs. He enjoyed seeing and helping family and friends with a bit of laughter or helping with projects. Gene was the eldest of three children of Albert and Viola Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Delores. Gene is survived by his sister Barbara. Gene will be missed by all of those who have ever encountered his soft spoken, jovial and kind personality.
