John Molnar, Jr. born on April 23, 1931, achieved his wish to live in his home until one week ago when he passed away on Christmas Day. He grew up in a Hungarian family that cherished their heritage. As a child, he loved playing football and baseball with neighborhood friends. He enjoyed visiting family and friends who lived on farms. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, then worked at Kalamazoo Paper Company. Upon his retirement, he lived and took care of his mother for many years. John was known for his absolutely delicious, canned dill pickles which he graciously shared with family. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. Delicious soups were his specialty among other Hungarian dishes. John had a great sense of humor and had that twinkle in his eye when he would tease or say something amusing. He leaves behind many cherished family members, especially Marci, his great niece and Nick Westgate, who unselfishly cared for him for the last few years. Also, Janine, niece and Kent Drake; John Newby, nephew; Jim Newby, nephew and Marlene; Janet, niece and Edward Marien; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Molnar; his brothers, infant Louis, and Julius, killed as a POW in Hiroshima; Mary, sister and Emil Dornak and Rose, sister and Jack Newby; and niece, Gloria Doan. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Joldersma & Klein with private graveside service at Riverside cemetery.
