November 13, 1935 - April 16, 2026 A funeral mass will be said on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. noon, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family Monday evening, April 27, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo; and one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed on Monday evening, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Diego will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in c/o the funeral home. |

Diego Lopez age 90 of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday evening, April 16, 2026. Diego was born in Aratzipu, Guanajuato, Mexico on November 13, 1935, the son of Dolores and Juana (Chavez) Lopez. He was married to Maria Esther Gonzales who survives him. Diego enjoyed listening to music. He also enjoyed the pleasure of a fine beer. Diego lived a simple life and although he was not wealthy, he shared what he had with others. He was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, and like to tell others that he was first devoted to God, and then to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Besides his wife, Diego is survived by Yolanda Lopez, Jose Lopez, Diego (Maria Isabel) Lopez Jr., Maria (Ramon) Morales, Manuel (Consuelo) Lopez, Juanita Lopez; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; brother, Nicolas Lopez; sister, Julia Lopez; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Diego was preceded in death by his parents. | |
