March 7, 1947 - October 10, 2016 A committal service with full military honors will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan (those planning to attend should meet in the funeral assembly area at the cemetery by 10:45 AM). A celebration of Mel’s life will then follow at 1:00 PM at Angel’s Crossings Golf Course, 3600 E W Ave., Vicksburg, MI 49097. |

Age 69, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016. Melvin was born in Kalamazoo on March 7, 1947 to the late Melvin D. and Daisy J. (Foster) Reeves. At the age of 17 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, where he served our country honorably during the Vietnam War. Mel was a sheet metal worker for 35 years. He was also an avid motorcyclist and later enjoyed farming as a hobby. He is survived by his wife, the former Yvonne M. Guevara; children, Wendy (Larry Trosper) Hamilton, Melvin “Doug” (Amber) Reeves, Jr., Stephaine (Ryan) Boltjes and Shannon (Lucas) Hillard; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sister, Sandra (John) Dole. | |
