Age 74, passed away on August 26, 2019. She was born in Xenia, OH, on April 14, 1945, the daughter of the late W. Douglas and Irene K. (Kirkland) Goodfellow. Robin graduated from Bryan High School in Yellow Springs, OH, in 1963, and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1967. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School in 1971. She was featured in People Magazine (May 10, 1976) as the first female Chief Surgical Resident at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. Following her residency in Boston, she practiced medicine and surgery in and around the Jackson and Albion area for many years. After her retirement from surgery, she became a Board-Certified Ringside Physician for the United States Boxing Olympic Team and served in this capacity at the London Olympics in 2012. She also served as a Ringside Physician for the Junior Boxing Federation. She loved world-wide travel and enjoyed taking photographs of her travels. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening and needlework. Robin is survived by her brothers, Dr. James D. (Vickie) Goodfellow of Enon, OH, and Dr. Donald B. (Kathy) Goodfellow, Lyndhurst, OH. She doted on her nieces and nephews, Susan Goodfellow, Pamela (Eric Thomas) Goodfellow, Jessica (Rusty) Rizzotte, Christina Goodfellow, Eric (Maddie) Goodfellow, Alex (Diana) Goodfellow, Julianne Goodfellow, Colin Goodfellow and great-nieces and nephews, Henry Rizzotte, Gemma Thomas, Alessandro and Katheleya Goodfellow. She is also survived by her good friend, Dr. Charles (Penny) Butler of Kalamazoo. |
