Age 95, passed away peacefully at Story Point Assisted Living on Friday, September 27, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Julia was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 16, 1924, the daughter if Valentine Orosz and Julia (Nemeth) Orosz. Julia was an indomitable spirit and a member of the Greatest Generation. She grew up during the Great Depression and world War II. She was a kind, loving and gentle soul. Julia enjoyed life to the fullest and was accepting, whatever situation that came her way. She was blessed with a great faith in the Lord and attended St. Andrew Community Church weekly, until her health began to fail in the fall of 2018. Though she had no children of her own, she was a mother to many nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as Aunt Jay, she was always available to baby sit, and for those of us who wanted to go, made sure we attended every county fair within a 50-mile radius of Kalamazoo. She loved to travel in her younger years, taking many trips throughout the United States. Julia was an avid bowler earlier in life and always attended the local dances. Dancing was her passion, which she continued to practice until 2018. Julia always had a constant smile on her face and had many friends. She was adored and loved by all who knew her. Julia was employed by Protection Products for 45 years. After retirement, Julia did not want to be idle, and took a job at Target stores as a cashier. Many customers would wait in her checkout line, even though they were directed to lines that were shorter, proclaiming that they wanted to have Julia wait on them. Julia finally decided that she had worked long enough and retired at the age of 78. She cared for her mother providing a home where family gathered. There was always the great Saturday night card games and Sunday Dinners. As the years passed and her health began to fail, she never lost her zest for life and her faith in the Lord. Julia was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers, Gus Orosz, Valentine Orosz, George Orosz and Joseph Orosz, as well as her sister, Mary Shorter, sisters-in-law, Margaret Orosz, Ann Orosz, Caroline Orosz and nephew James Orosz. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Erma Draper and Betty Richards of Portage, Michigan, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. |
