Age 80, passed away at his home on July 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 1940, in Decatur, MI, the son of the late Harold and Mildred (Parish) Ewert. He remained a lifelong resident of Southwest Michigan. He was an accomplished carpenter who worked hard to provide for his family. When not working, he enjoyed fishing for blue gills and salmon, ice fishing (especially spearing for pike), and playing golf with his friends. Fred was generous, hardworking, and honest. He believed in the “American Way,” enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was always willing to help those in need. He had a strong resilience which helped him through the loss of his son Frederick Ewert Jr. who passed away in 1975 at the age of 15. Fred loved his family and friends and leaves them with many wonderful memories of a life well lived. On September 27, 1958, he married his High School sweetheart, Louise E. (Slover) Ewert. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Fred is survived by his son Gary (Mary) Ewert, of Palatine, IL and sister Carol A Antles of Gobles, MI. |
