William (Bill) Shingledecker of Kalamazoo, went to his heavenly home Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was born in Vicksburg, MI, the son of Henry Shingledecker and Pearl (Burson) Shingledecker. He was the last surviving child of seven children in his family. William is also preceded in death by his wife, Constance (Connie) June (Moore) Shingledecker, February 6, 2008. William and Connie were married December 23, 1955. William proudly served his nation in the United States Navy for four years. He worked for many years in Kalamazoo at the Panelite plant, Family Foods, and finally at General Motors, where he retired. William enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to play music playing the banjo and harmonica. He would call friends on their birthdays and play happy birthday to them on his harmonica over the phone. He enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee, Mexican train and loved to cook and share his cooking with others. William was a great storyteller. He’d frequently share his real-life experiences, including stories from his time in the Navy. William is survived by his four children, Cynthia Jo (Shingledecker) Goolsby, her husband, Lynn Goolsby and Cynthia’s children, Buck Black and Keith Black and Courtney Ann Black (Keith’s) daughter, of Kalamazoo, MI, Brenda Lee (Shingledecker) Olson, her husband, Ronald Olson, their son Eric Lee Olson, his wife Whitney Olson and their son, Eric Lee Olson Jr., of Kalamazoo, MI, Scott J. Shingledeker, his wife, Jean Shingledecker, their children, Jacob Shingledecker, Robert Shingledecker, Savana and Sontia, all formerly of Kalamazoo, MI; his recently reunited son, Lee Ballou, his wife Robin, and their children Sam Ballou, his wife Renee, and their children Rylee, Gabe, Brianna, and Autumn; and Jake Ballou, his wife Kristin and their children Carter, Averie, and Clara. |
