January 19, 1936 - January 11, 2022 A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, beginning at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Richland, 8047 Church St. Richland, MI 49083. Age 85, passed away on January 11, 2022, with family at his side. He was born in Bradley, MI, on January 19, 1936, the son of the late David and Ruby (Patterson) Saddler. On August 10, 1957, he married Janet (Comstock) Saddler who remained by his side always. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. Those who knew Richard know of his love for antique and classic cars. He was an avid automobile collector, restorer and enthusiast. His passion would lead him to become a founding member of the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club, he was active in the ACD Museum, the Gilmore Car Museum and was a regular at local and statewide auto shows. Richard loved to share his knowledge of automobiles and also made time to help others with their projects. He was a proud citizen of his community and was a loyal member of First Presbyterian Church of Richland for over 70 years. Richard loved his family and friends; he will be missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Janet; three children, Richard (Christine) Saddler Jr., Steven (Suzanne) Saddler, Phillip (Deborah) Saddler; grandchildren, Brittany Saddler, Jennifer (Douglas) Hawkins, Ryan (Ashley) Saddler, Jamie McCauley, Scott Saddler; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Taylor, Keegan, Ryleigh, Cade, and Colt; a sister, Darlene (Dale) Griffith; nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David Harold Saddler and Kenneth Saddler. |
