A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the West Michigan Cancer Center or the charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home. |

Age 91, passed away Thursday evening, December 29, 2022. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on December 22, 1931, the son of the late Bernie and Lena (VanGermeet) Bierenga. Bud attended Kalamazoo Central High School and was later drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving our country with honor he was discharged on January 27, 1954 and returned to make Southwest Michigan his home. On September 6, 1957, he married the love of his life whom he met on a blind date, Wilma (Newman) Bierenga who survives. They enjoyed 65 years of life together and made wonderful memories along their way. Bud was a hard worker and believed in providing for the people he loved. He was employed at Shakespere Company and later retired from Aero-Motive Co. When not working, he enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop. He was a gifted craftsman and made clocks, manger scenes, angels and other wooden crafts; most became gifts given to others. Bud believed in the Lord and was a long time member of Lake Center Bible Church and was currently attending Oakwood Bible Church. Above all he loved his family and his friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. His smile, laughter and joy will be missed by all who loved him. Bud is also survived by two children, Richard (Laurie) Bierenga and Diane Bierenga; three grandchildren, Rachel (AJ) Ozanich, Jeffrey Bierenga and Steve Bierenga; one great-granddaughter, Nautia; many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in passing by his siblings, Martin (Celia) Bierenga, Clara Bierenga; Grace (Jake) Dykstra; Jacob (Leona) Bierenga. |
