Robert W. Dudley, age 99, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Sandusky, passed away March 20,
2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice, Kalamazoo after a short illness.
Bob was born October 21, 1923 in Yale, MI to the late William and Grace (Phelps)
Dudley. Bob entered into the US Military March 4, 1943, at Ft. Custer Training Center
as a WWII Army Anti-Aircraft Cannoneer serving in the Naples-Foggia Campaign, the
Rome-Arno Campaign, the Rhineland Campaign and the Central Europe Campaign.
Bob married Frances Ennest on September 16, 1950 in Hazel Park, MI and together they
raised their family in Sandusky. Known for his carpentry skills Bob built, remodeled and
renovated many homes in Michigan’s Thumb area including Sanilac, Huron, Tuscola and
St. Clair Counties.
Bob is survived by his children, Karen (Case) VanHooydonk of Parkhill, Ont., Linda
Dove (Darrell Robinson) of Lewisburg, TN, Steven (Karen) Dudley of Kalamazoo, Lori
(Andy) McLane of North Branch, Sgt W. Scott Dudley (Melissa McCormick) of
Hinnesville, GA, and daughter-in-law Jeanne (Jim) Hughes of Hampton, VA; twelve
grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Fletcher of Lewiston; and
many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Fran; his son, Ret. Maj. W. Ross Dudley; his
parents Bill and Grace; his brothers Kenneth Dudley, and Harold Dudley; and his sisters
Baby Girl Dudley, Virginia Dudley, and Melva Minnie.
