James D. ” Jim ” Hall, age 80, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on October 17, 2023. He was born on May 8, 1943, in Kalamazoo. Jim, as he preferred to be called, was a well-read, compassionate, caring, and contemplative person with a wonderful sense of humor and a love for music and art. Jim is survived by his brothers, Ernest Weltzer and David Weltzer; his sister, Maureen Price; and special family members, Cara Lee Paige, and Mike & Emily Paige. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special family grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, May Marie Hall and his father, Dwight J. Hall. Jim attended Kalamazoo Central High School and furthered his education at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Western Michigan University. In service to his country, Jim proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War from November 1964 to September 1966. Professionally, Jim had a successful career as a Precision Tool Grinder. Jim worshiped at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kalamazoo. In his free time, Jim was an avid reader and loved engaging in thoughtful discussions.
