Theodore (Ted) Ploughman passed away Friday, May 5, 2017. Ted was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on August 11, 1932, to the late Anthony and Charlotte Ploughman. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College and was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, joining the Acacia fraternity and receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering and a doctorate in education. He remained a devoted Michigan sports fan. Ted was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in post WWII Germany. He was a professor at Western Michigan University and a Project Management Director at the Upjohn Company. Ted was a long time supporter and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and served as president of the board of the Kalamazoo Child Guidance Clinic. Ted and his wife Marcia (8/14/37 – 5/17/2011) met on the shores of Lake Michigan and later purchased a cottage on the lake in South Haven. They spent every moment possible at the cottage, relaxing and enjoying time with friends. Ted was an avid golfer and fisherman and spent many hours on his boat on Lake Michigan. Ted and Marcia enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Marcia M. Ploughman on May 17, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Lynn (Ed Chiang) Ploughman, John Ploughman and Jim (Julie) Ploughman; three grandchildren, Tyler and Matthew Ploughman and Anna Chiang. |
