Age 95, passed away on January 26, 2024, at Sue’s Loving Care. She was born in Dearborn, MI, on November 25, 1928, the daughter of the late David William and Eva Marie (Dudley) Lennon. Dolores lost her mother in 1935, her father in 1986 and her brother John Edward Lennon in 1972. As a child she moved often, attending elementary school in Battle Creek, Chicago and Detroit. She graduated with honors from Nazareth Academy in 1946 and Nazareth College in 1950 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She had a strong faith in the lord and was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for a short time. She loved children and enjoyed teaching. From 1948 to 1955 she taught at St. David’s Catholic School in Detroit, St. Michael’s in Pontiac, Holy Maternity of Mary in Dowagiac and St. Joseph’s in Battle Creek. She transferred from teaching and took a job at the Federal Life and Casualty Company in Battle Creek in 1955. In 1957 she served as secretary to the Registrar at WMU, moving to the Brunswick School Equipment Division in 1960 where she served as a secretary. In 1972, she served as secretary to the director of the Michigan 4-H Foundation and in 1974 transferred to the Kellogg Biological Station where she served as secretary for the research staff. In 1980 she became executive secretary to the Director, Dr. George Lauff then to his successor Dr. Patrick J., Webber, finally retiring in November of 1993. When not working Delores found many other ways to stay involved. She taught CCD classes at St. Ann’s Parish in Gull Lake from 1965 to 1971. She enjoyed being a member of the Delton Sweet Adelines from 1972 to 1988. Volunteered at Burnham Brook from 1990 to 1995 and remained a member until 2006. She was an Eagles Lodge member from 1991 to 2006, attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Gull Lake from 1964 to 1990 and St., Jerome’s Church of Battle Creek from 1990 to 2006. She last attended mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Battle Creek from 2006 to 2011. She had many hobbies which included barbershop singing, piano keyboard, playing the organ, gardening, clogging, tap and line dancing, traveling and watercolor painting. Dolores loved her family and friends; her memory will be cherished by all who loved her and she leaves behind the memory of a life well lived. She is survived by her only son, Michael (Judy) Haire; grandchildren, Monica Velasquez, Christina (Christopher) Wilson, Justin Langstrom, Amber (Quin) Bouman; three great-grandchildren, Julien and Carmella Velasquez and Aya Wilson; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by her former husbands, Walter, Max and Frank; daughter, Kathleen Langstrom and brother, John Lennon. |
