Age 78, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. He was born in Kalamazoo on July 12, 1939, the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Pohl. He was also preceded in passing by a sister, Norma Chiverton. Gary graduated from Galesburg High School and was then drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Korea from 1962 to 1964 until being honorably discharged. In 1967 he married the love of his life Sharon K. (Wilder) Pohl who survives. They would make Southwest Michigan their home. Gary was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was dedicated to his family and friends. He was a hard worker who retired from Green Bay Packaging after 35 years. When not working, Gary loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fisherman. He loved animals especially his pet beagles. Gary leaves behind many wonderful memories for his family to cherish. He is also survived by three children, Tim (Wendy) Pohl, Todd (Joan) Pohl and Tiffany Pohl; a granddaughter, Kaylynn Hill; a sister, Judith Salyer; extended family and friends. |
