Patrick L. Vanzile

Patrick Lee VanZile, age 76, passed away in Chelsea, MI surrounded by his family. He was born in Comstock, MI on January 21, 1942, son of the late Eddie Sr and Dortha VanZile. After graduation from Comstock HS, he married his high school sweetheart, LeeAnne Relaford in March 1960, who survives. Pat worked at Georgia Pacific and retired as a Supervisor after 38 years. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed most sports – especially baseball and basketball. He spent over 20 years helping build Alamo Little league from the ground up. He coached many players over the years in baseball in Alamo and Otsego. He was involved in getting the Otsego High School Sports Booster program running to support all HS athletes, including serving as its inaugural president. He and wife, LeeAnne became icons at all Otsego HS home football games running the ‘chain gang’ for over 20 years. His hobbies were many but mostly fishing. He was a lifetime member of Bassmaster, attending many of the Classic events over the years to follow his favorite fishermen on the circuit. He loved attending all things for his dear grandchildren; he found great joy in being with them and enjoying their lives.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and 2 brothers, Eddie Jr. and Russ and a son in law, Steven Keene. His sister, Mary Ann, survives. His wife of 58 years, LeeAnne survives along with his 4 children – Lori (Mike) Vigen of Kalamazoo, Candy (Jerry Kinglsey) Keene of Chelsea, MI, Rick (Karen) VanZile of Dayton, OH and Karl (Liz) VanZile of Charleston, SC. His grandchildren are Tom (Alex) Vigen, AJ Vigen, Sam Keene, Lisa Keene, Kaitlyn (Josh) Hatfield, Connor VanZile, Karli VanZile, JT VanZile and Jenna VanZile. His great-grandchildren are Mackenzie Vigen and Tessa Hatfield.
