Age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2019. He was born to Ralph Milo and Jessie M. (Sutton) Ozmun on May 17, 1939. Ralph grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and attended Kalamazoo Central High School. Upon graduating, he entered the U.S. Army and served from 1959-1965, working in joint security in South Korea and then in the reserves. Following his service, he worked as a Powerplant Engineer at James River until he retired in 1994. Ralph’s retirement plan was to spend time at The Land of Oz farm, raising nut trees and to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. If you knew Ralph, you knew that his favorite thing to do was to brag about the many accomplishments of his family and to enjoy a good meal. He was an avid reader, downloading books on his Nook and making regular trips to his local library. For many years, Ralph enjoyed volunteering at the Battle Creek Humane Society with his wife Shirley. They were proud of giving homes to many rescue dogs throughout their marriage together. Ralph is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley A. (Wiruth) Ozmun; children, Kareen Webber, Rob (Kelly) Ozmun and Dena (Jim) Carlson; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. |
