Mary Dean DeBoer Klosterman-Hahn's Lord and Savior called her home on June 17, 2026. She was born March 12, 1931, in Oak Park, IL, to Andrew and Bernice (Dykhuis) DeBoer and lived her adult life in Kalamazoo, MI.

She was united in marriage to Albert John Klosterman on April 29, 1952, who preceded her in death in 1988. On November 24, 1990, she married Norman Paul Hahn who preceded her in death in 2005.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (John) Bartels, Marcia (Chuck) Dykstra, Joni (Rudy) Dykhuis and step-children, Chris (Connie) Hahn, Sandy (Tom) Dailey, Pat (John) Durham, and Jan Hahn. Also surviving are grandchildren and step-grandchildren: David (Caroline) Bartels and Karyn (Dan) DeKorne; Mary (Dave) Adams, John (Heidi) Dykstra and James (Alice) Dykstra; Jeff (Heather) Groendyk and Anna (Amy) Crandall; Scott and Erin Hahn; Camela Littlepage and Susanna (Jeremy) Breitweiser; Corrie (Phil) Hillary and Ann (Craig Ortner) Durham; Dan, Ben and Laura Severance; and 21 great grandchildren; siblings Andrew (Cynthia) DeBoer and Joan DeJonge and sister-in-law, Dorothy DeBoer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul and in-laws, Ruth and Bob Overbeck and Karl DeJonge.

Mary was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered in many capacities through the years. She was also a long-time faithful volunteer for the Kalamazoo Christian Schools. Mary’s faith was central in her life. She lived a life of service to others and to her Savior. Her family was her greatest joy. Sadly, she dealt with memory loss for the past several years, but she continued to know and love her family and never lost her heart of gratitude and sweet spirit. We do not grieve as those without hope; we stand firm on the promises that Jesus‘ life, death, and resurrection bring.

The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside/ Special Care Unit (Friendship Village) and Centrica Hospice for their tender, loving care for our mom. It added to her quality of life. The warm smiles and tender hugs blessed her daily and she considered her caregivers as friends.

Thomas Lee Miller, of Portage, Michigan, passed away peacefully, going out as his brilliant mind intended on the morning of June 13, 2026. He celebrated a remarkable life defined by resilience, intellect, and deep devotion to family. Born on November 24, 1935, in Elkhart, Indiana, he was the third and unexpected child of Mary and Wilson LeRoy Miller, arriving many years after his siblings, Beatrice (Bea) and Leroy Jr. (Nunie).

Tom’s early life was marked by both love and challenge. After losing his father at age 4, his mother returned to the workforce to provide for the family. Despite a modest upbringing that included countless rides on a milk wagon and repeating both first and third grade, Tom persevered with determination and curiosity. He became the first in his family to attend college, setting the foundation for a lifetime of accomplishment.

His academic journey began at Tri-State College (now Trine University), where he studied mechanical engineering. After a brief pause, a friend encouraged him to continue his education at Indiana State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and was a proud member of the first multi-racial fraternities Pi Lamda Phi. He went on to achieve a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, a milestone that reflected his dedication and passion for science.

While working a summer job in drafting at Penn Controls in Goshen Indiana, Tom met his future wife and lifelong love, Kenlynn Seaman of Goshen, Indiana. The two married in 1962 and began their life together in Madison, Wisconsin. They later settled in Portage, Michigan, where Tom built a distinguished career as a research scientist at Upjohn (now Pfizer) where he traveled the world from Japan, China and Germany to Puerto Rico and beyond.

Tom and Kenlynn raised three children: daughter Heather, and sons Kevin and Quinn. Family remained at the center of his life. After retiring from Upjohn in his late 50s, Tom and his wife embraced the opportunity to travel widely and created cherished memories with their children and extended family at their lake cottage in Union, MI. They hosted many spring breaks in Siesta Key, FL, took a dream South Pacific cruise beginning in Hawaii and ending in Australia and finally a trip to California and bucket list Grand Canyon in 2024.

Tom was a man of faith and he loved Portage United Church of Christ, were he and Kenny were members and regulars for 48 years and as Pastor Mak highlighted “Tom was ready for the next mystery”. And out of all his wonderful qualities, the love Tom had for time spent with people he cared about, both family and friends, will be his lasting legacy. He befriended people from all walks of life and the way he carried himself made people trust and value him as the voice of reason.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Wilson LeRoy, his brother LeRoy Jr., sister Beatrice and his niece Pam Kayon. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Kenlynn Miller; his daughter, Heather (Michael) Stevens; his sons, Kevin (Carol Reiss) Miller and Quinn Miller; and his cherished grandchildren, Eric (Kara) Stevens, Sawyer Stevens, Ty Stevens, Leah Miller, and Seth Miller. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Lousia, Eva, Sloane, and Colette Stevens. He is further survived by his niece, who was more like a second daughter, Coleen (Butch) Knerr, and their children, Grace (Ethan) Sillers and Phillip Knerr, his nephew Larry Raifsnider and several first and second cousins and nieces and nephews.

Tom will be missed deeply, but we are so thankful for the life he lived, the example he set and the love he gave to everyone.

Whitney Elizabeth Learman, 29, of Comstock, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2026. She was born in Kalamazoo on March 28, 1997, to Bylinda French and David French. Whitney was a bright, loving, and charismatic person whose warmth touched everyone she met. Her smile lit up every room, and her presence left a lasting impression. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 2015, where she was well liked by classmates and teachers and excelled in cross-country and softball, earning the nickname “Smiley.” She later attended Western Michigan University and earned a bachelor’s degree in food marketing from the Haworth College of Business. On October 4, 2024, after six years together, Whitney married the love of her life, Seth Learman. The couple made their home in Comstock, above her grandparents’ home, and Whitney worked as a server at The Cove Lakeside Bistro. She cherished time with family and friends, especially her beloved furry companions, Mya and Philly. Whitney also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including watching sunsets over West Lake in Portage. Though her life ended far too soon, she had a deep hope of becoming a mother. She shared that same love generously with those around her and proudly embraced the title “Auntie Whit.” To know Whitney was to love her, and she will be deeply missed. As Taylor Swift wrote, “…And bring on all the pretenders. I’m not afraid. Long live all the mountains we moved—I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you.” Whitney is lovingly remembered by her husband, Seth “Bubbas” Learman; her parents, Bylinda (Angelo “Fred” Buchino) French and David French; her siblings, Amber (Caleb Hyden) French, Carlee Osborn, and Leighton Osborn; her in-laws, Lisa (Andrew) Crawley and Jeremey Osborn; her grandparents, Alice (Ron) Wood and Dewain French; and many aunts, uncles, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Clarice French and JoAnn Learman.

Melissa Lynn Starbuck, age 64, of Mattawan passed away at Centrica Rose Arbor Place on June 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Holland, MI, on January 24, 1962, the daughter of the late George and Grace (Bijsterveld) Antoon. Melissa was a kind, gentle and loving woman who had a heart of gold. Other than family, her greatest passion was helping cats. She loved caring for her many pet cats and never missed an opportunity to save the life of a stray, if possible. She worked hard as an administrative assistant for the Van Buren Community Mental Health office for several years where her dedication and attention to details will be missed. She was a quiet servant and would go above and beyond to help family and friends without ever asking for recognition. Above all Melissa loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. On May 19, 2007, she married William A. Starbuck, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Kelsie Antoon; grandchildren, Trinity, Aurora and Isaiah; stepchildren, Amy (Bill) Peterson, William (Desiree) Starbuck, Joseph (Michelle) Starbuck, Patricia Sumner; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Diane), Ann (Peter), Marge (Tony); many extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a special stepfather, Gerard.

Linda Barber, age 77, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, surrounded by family.

Though tiny in stature, “Little Linda” had a strong spirit. With her famous fiery red hair, enormous smile and spicy personality, “Little Red” was quick to love. She was a survivor known for her friendliness, determination, resilience, straight-talk, laughter and fierce love for her family, especially her sons and her grandson, Michael.

Born in Ironton, Ohio, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Linda graduated with honors from Edmonson High School. She married at 19, soon welcoming her pride and joy: sons John and Chad. Linda excelled in the service profession. Highlights of her career include Disney’s Animal Kingdom catering and Portage Public Schools. At Portage Community Alternative High School, she became a beloved mentor and advocate for countless students.

The family deeply thanks Dr. Muhammad Usman, Bronson Hospital, PACE, and Rose Arbor Hospice for their exceptional care.

Linda is survived by her sons, John (Allison) and Chad (Annmarie); brother, Dave (Rose); grandson, Michael, and nieces and nephews.

In her final days, Linda summed up her life: “Some of it’s been magic, some of it's tragic. But I’ve had a good life. I’ve been truly blessed.” And so have we for the privilege of loving and having been loved by Linda.

Brian Lloyd Anspaugh age 62 of Schoolcraft passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026. Brian was born in Kalamazoo on June 15, 1963, the son of Lloyd Earl and Joan May (Scobey) Anspaugh. On March 25, 1996, he married Susan Parker who survives him.

Brian was known for his big heart, kind soul and always greeting you with a smile. He also was great at telling jokes and having some of the best one-liners. Brian always looked forward to the annual deer hunting camping trips to Brohman in October. He had a deep love for his family and friends and was always willing to help others. This was revealed even with his passing as through the Gift of Life, Brian was able to donate several organs and tissue to others in need. It gives us much comfort to know that he will live on through others.

Brian enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a talented athlete in his high school days playing baseball, basketball and football. For those who knew him well, he was proud to be one of the “Gooch brothers” and one of the founding members of the “Barn Brewers”. When watching college sports, you would always know Brian would be rooting for the University of North Carolina. Some of his family’s favorite memories were annual camping trips to VanBuren State Park, winter trips to Florida, and who can forget when he and Susan attempted to ride a tandem bike around Mackinac Island. For those present, we still laugh until it hurts thinking about it.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Joshua Clysdale and Ian Anspaugh; grandson, Jackson Clysdale; siblings, Gary A. (Dondi Squires) Anspaugh, David (Dawn) Anspaugh and Bob (Lisa) Anspaugh; sister-in-law, Lori (Jason) Gaunt; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Brian was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother and father-in-law Chuck and Connie Parker.

Holly Duffy Walls, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died at home on June 6, 2026, surrounded by her family. Her generosity and thoughtfulness, her laughter and warmth, her truths, and her immense gifts of love to us are alive in all our hearts.
Holly was born in Chicago on June 11, 1947. She grew up in the nearby suburb of Riverside, the oldest of Terence and Helen Duffy’s six children. She went to St. Mary’s School (Riverside), Trinity High School (River Forest, Illinois), and after a year at Clarke University (Iowa), attended the University of Dayton (Ohio). Holly was an English major, and an avid reader throughout her life. She eagerly shared her favorite books. During her early time in Dayton, her decision to take a stand for her political beliefs led her to a group of like-minded friends. Many of them stayed in her life and heart to the present. Holly spent time after college living in the country in Farmersville, Ohio, which remained one of the happiest periods of her life, and was a time that deeply influenced what she valued and sought in her future. Holly carried her spirit of loving care and attention to relationships across the country and across time. Her shelves are full of letters, photographs and gifts that reflect the richness of these friendships.
Holly met her husband Joe while living in Farmersville. Their relationship blossomed while traveling through Europe, and when they returned, they moved to Riverside and then to Berwyn, got married, and began a family. Soon after the1980 tornado, they moved to a small rental house in Kalamazoo with their newborn daughter Helen. On an evening walk, they spotted their dream house on Spruce Drive, and when a “For Sale” sign appeared as an omen on the front lawn a short time later, it soon became their family home where they raised their three children and together enjoyed over forty wonderful years.
Holly stayed at home during the early years of her children’s lives, somehow fitting in time to hold multiple classes for dozens of families preparing for natural childbirth, and to earn a master's degree in special education from Western Michigan University. Shortly afterwords, she began teaching high school and later took the position of Transition Coordinator for her school district, where she was instrumental in developing a program that provided her students with real work experience to help them with the change to post-school life. She had a passion for this work and cared deeply for the success of the students she supported.
In recent years Holly enjoyed the slower pace of retired life; greeting friends, gardening, planning lively overnights with the grandchildren and kitchen chats with her sister, Mary. We loved her gentle presence in our gardens and homes, when saying our family prayer at meals, in the voices of our children and grandchildren, in all the things we seek, and where we find love and joy. Her cosmos seeds have made their way to both coasts.
Holly thrived in the beauty of nature and found great peace there. Lake Michigan was a special place for her. She spent many summer days walking along the shore, reading on the beach, swimming in the waves, and searching for glass rocks; later enjoying the brilliant horizon sunsets and silent starry nights. She had an openness to experience and a desire to savor the magical places that held significance for her. Holly was drawn to sites tied to her family’s Irish heritage. She even obtained Irish citizenship. Other locations were found in her readings and conversations with friends. Holly relished her travels - from a monastery in Sligo, to canoes on the Missouri River, she often brought us along for the journey.
Holly found comfort in her faith throughout her life and always strived to deepen her spiritual practice. Her devout father was her model. As an adult she was gently led through much of this process by Sister Gertrude, CSJ, who was an instrumental spiritual guide for her. Holly so missed both of her heroes. She found great comfort, too, in communing with those she loved, and with centering prayer, meditation, and creating meaningful ways to celebrate special occasions. Her candlelit solstice gatherings were renowned. Other candles burned overnight to honor the departed. She had a special place for yoga, and a very special yoga teacher. Holly’s spirituality lives on in the daily flow of all our lives.
Our dear Holly is survived by her husband Joe and their three children—Helen (Nelson)Bell, Ann (Benjamin Pineda) Walls, and Jeff (Jocelin) Walls. She has five grandchildren—Lucas, Ines, and Luisa Pineda Walls; and Lucy and Violet Walls. She has three living siblings—Mary, Jim (Jill Jasuta) Duffy and Tom (StellaDurango) Duffy. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joe and Marty Duffy, as well as a beloved aunt, Cele Duffy.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Todd K Beasore, who departed this world on June 5, 2026, due to heart failure. Born in the quaint town of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Todd's life was a melody composed of love, family, passion, and pizzas, leaving behind an enduring legacy that will continue to resonate with all who knew him. Todd was the cherished son of Ken and Debra Beasore, who have predeceased him and are undoubtedly welcoming him with open arms in the afterlife. Despite the absence of his beloved parents, Todd was never alone. He is survived by his two sons, Nick and Logan, who were his pride and joy and from whom he drew immense strength and happiness. He was also a devoted grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren who brought him endless delight and whose futures he cared for deeply. A proud graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, Todd ventured into the world with a spirit as vibrant as the tunes he strummed on his beloved guitar. Music was his lifelong companion; from his early years, Todd found solace and expression through playing guitar, sharing his talent with several bands over the years. His love for music was a testament to his creative soul and a gift he shared generously with those around him. Todd's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own multiple pizza restaurants, where he not only crafted delicious meals but also created warm, welcoming places for community gatherings. His dedication to his craft and his patrons was unmatched, and his establishments became a beloved staple, known for their inviting atmosphere and Todd's friendly presence. Those who knew Todd will remember him not just for his professional endeavors but for the person he was striving to become. In his later years, Todd found love, a testament to his belief in the power of connection and kindness. He was on a journey of personal growth, committed to being a better person for himself and everyone around him—an aspiration that touched the hearts of many and inspired them to pursue their own paths of self-improvement and compassion. As we bid farewell to Todd, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of joy, music, and love. His legacy will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the camaraderie shared within his restaurants, and the melodies that continue to play softly in the hearts of all who knew him.
