A private memorial service will be held. Beverly will be laid to rest in the Columbarium of First Presbyterian Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators (hospice) or First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo, in c/o of the funeral home.

Beverly Jean Bloomquist age 87 of Kalamazoo passed away early Saturday morning, May 30, 2026. Beverly was born in Kalamazoo on July 20, 1938, the daughter of John T. and Grethel (Smith) Klimp. On September 19, 1959, she married Robert Gerald Bloomquist who preceded her in death in 2019. Beverly was a 1959 graduate of Bronson School of Nursing. She used her nursing skills at the Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH, Planned Parenthood in Kalamazoo, Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and at the MSU-KCMS Pediatrics Clinic in Kalamazoo. Bev was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo where she sang in the choir and served on the Diaconate and Session. She also sang in the Kalamazoo Symphony Chorus. In her spare time, Beverly enjoyed volunteering at Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. She and Bob were creators of travelogue presentations made from their trips to destinations around the world. She also was a tutor at the Edison School and volunteered at the Kalamazoo Humane Society and the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. Besides her travelling and volunteerism, she liked gardening, crocheting and cooking. Beverly is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Lou) Rhodes, Lisa (Jeff) Layer and Ann Marie (Bill) Gray; grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Hyde, Jonathan (Madison) Rhodes, Michael (Lizzi) Layer, Rebecca (Luis) Hernandez, Emily Gray and Jim Gray; and great-grandchildren, Luka, Josefina, Allesandro, Emerson, Max and Zoe; and many friends. Besides her husband, Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Arthur Klimp.
