Gerald (Jerry) Duane Skrceny, 92, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, peacefully
passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. At the time of his passing, he
was living with his son Todd in Kalamazoo.

Gerald was born in Flint on June 12, 1934, to Frank and Nellie (Rose)
Skrceny. He graduated from Flushing High School, where he served on the
student council all four years and was elected both class president and
student council president, a rare distinction. He also played drums in the
marching band, where he met Elaine Maschino, a majorette, who would
become his wife.

After graduating from the General Motors Institute, now known as Kettering
University, Jerry went to work at the General Motors at the Tech Center,
where he remained until his retirement. One of the things Jerry was admired
for was his love of learning, and that continued throughout his life. After
retiring from GM, he joined a team of engineers that helped design the
open-air trucks for the safari tours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Jerry will be remembered for his kind and gentle demeanor, his love of
Corvettes, fishing, bird watching, his big sweet tooth for ice cream and root
beer floats and always carrying a pocket knife or two.

Gerald is survived by his children, Scott Skrceny, Todd (Candice) Skrceny,
Susan (Chris) Stroud, and Dana (Dan) Macdonald; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Beverly Deaver; and many nieces, nephews,
and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; his parents; his brother,
Ronald Skrceny; and his sister, Judy Westerby.
