John Charles Clark

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sat., May 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at Borrowed Time, 22 East Center St. Douglas, MI 49406.
Obituary
Age 74, passed away from cancer Sat., March 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. John was born in Kalamazoo on April 16, 1943 to the late Marvin and Eleanore (Joldersma) Clark. He was preceded in death by his sisters Jeanne and Anne Clark. John graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1961. He entered an apprenticeship with IBEW #131, interrupted by two years in the Army, and worked as an electrician in Kalamazoo. John moved to Chicago in 1976 to attend IT&T where he earned a BSEE. He remained in Chicago where he met and married Deborah (Merten) Clark who survives, along with their children, Allison Clark of Chicago, IL and Eoen Clark of Saugatuck, MI. Also surviving is his brother, Bruce (Lauren) Clark; Bruce’s children Dana and Eric and many cousins and their families. John retired as a substitute teacher from CPS and moved to Saugatuck in May 2017. John enjoyed golfing, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed his children’s passions; Allison’s singing and Eoen’s cooking. He was passionate about preserving our environment, feeding those in need and public TV.

Dear Deb and family was saddened to read of john,s passing we go back 55 years when I started working for the family at the funeral home. the last years we only saw each other at funerals it was as we really hadn,t been apart that long. We will try to make it to Douglas on the 5th god bless you all David
