A memorial service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Church of Christ, 911 James St., Plainwell, MI 49080. Private interment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ or U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Obituary

Age 82, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 with his family by his side. Chuck was born in Manila, Arkansas on June 29, 1935, the son of the late Fred and Gladys (Griswell) Bickings. As an infant he moved to Oran, Missouri and moved to Michigan in 1953. He was employed for 40 years at the James River Company, retiring in 1993. In 1973 he met the love of his life, Barbara E. Hoag and they were united in marriage on August 9, 1975. He was a member of Church of Christ. Chuck enjoyed dancing, traveling and fishing. He also pitched for KVP Sutherland softball team. In addition to his wife, Barb, Chuck is survived by his children, Joe Bickings, Diana (Irvin) Sober, Chuck (Dawn) Bickings, Kathy Bickings and Dale (Tina) Bickings; step-daughter, Sharon (Tom) Honeysett; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and step-siblings, Wanda and Rick Bickings. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Glenda (Jack) Hamlett; brothers, W.L., R.B. and Raymond Bickings and sisters, Mildred Crowden and Kathryn Farris.
